It’s been a while since IE6 (Internet Explorer 6) was released, If I’m right it was more than 10 years. Since then, IE6 has become one of the most used Internet browser, the main reason is that it come with Windows XP, which is also the most successful operating system back in it’s era.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of issues with IE6, especially the infamous CSS issues that caused a lot of headache for web developers. The CSS for IE6 is full of bugs, and it does not really follow the CSS standard, which make the CSS model does not compatible with other browsers, most of the time, and developers have to look for workaround, or even write a separate CSS for IE6, which is very troublesome.

Fortunately, Microsoft know about this, and they are begging people to stop using IE6, recently Microsoft is launching a website calling people to gradually stop using IE6, hoping one day the IE6 usage will drop to 1%. The website, which is IE6Countdown.com, and here is what it says:

10 years ago a browser was born.

Its name was Internet Explorer 6. Now that we’re in 2011, in an era of modern web standards, it’s time to say goodbye.

This website is dedicated to watching Internet Explorer 6 usage drop to less than 1% worldwide, so more websites can choose to drop support for Internet Explorer 6, saving hours of work for web developers.

Well guys, let’s do your part by stop using IE6. You can at least upgrade your Internet Explorer, or choose one of the Internet browser available on the net.

While for me, I will do mine by stop supporting IE6. Fuck IE6! I had enough with the workarounds, stupid margin, padding, floats whatever CSS shits that I have to readjust just because of IE6 not displaying properly, stupid browser!
